Amount of meth use question
Is it conceivable that a
functional addict might use a small amount daily and then on
Friday/weekend ...Party Time ... use more to party? |

Re: Amount of meth use question
Yes, this is very possible. It's
usually only a matter of time, though, before the use during the
week escalates.
I continued to hold down my job during my 5 1/2 years of daily
use but the amount I used on say a Wednesday became
indistinguishable from what I used on a Saturday. I needed a
certain amount every day just to feel normal and to get through
the day.
It is possible for a while, though. |

yes...my best friend..uses daily
while she has held down the same job for years...pays
bills..raises her kids..eats and sleeps...on weekends...we use
to party together..that is when she sometimes would smoke...but
only did a couple lines through the day to "get through" |

For years? I'm wondering how long someone can do this? Wouldn't
they eventually lose everything? I'm asking because I really
really think this is my husbands situation. I'm thinking he's
been messin with the shyt for at least 10+ years and I'm
wondering how much longer he can be functional... although I'm
not sure that he really is because he works for family so he
hasn't lost his job and in a normal job situation he would have
lost it time and time again ... and he's got major debt. Maybe
he's not functional... just lucky. |

Re: Amount of meth use question
my best friend in cali...i
introduced her to meth when we were 15..but I know she has been
doing it hardcore since 17...has worked at the same job..same
home for 11 years...she is what I would call functional...she
never understood what happen to me, why I couldnt stay away from
needles and had to go overboard.. she is my age 34...plus..she
has all her teeth..is a little overweight..doesnt pick or do
anything compulsive..well sometimes she gets on the craft
thingy..or painting thingy...her eyes are brown and it is easier
for her to hide... |

Wow... it doesn't sound like she shows any signs of long term
use. It's just so weird how some people show it and others
don't.
My hubby looks like death. His skin is real pale.. his cheeks
and eyes are caved in and he picks sore on his face, sometimes
neck and hands. He's always saying he's got ingrown hairs... yea
whatever! He's got most of his teeth only missing a few..some
are a little blackened. He has put on a little weight in the
past couple of months. I think he's cut down on the use some
trying to convince me and everyone else he's quit. I'm so used
to him looking like that to me it was normal.
I really hope your friend doesn't have anything bad happen to
her... considering the bad things meth does to a body. Thanks
for answering my questions. I really appreciate it |

Re: Amount of meth use question
I worked my job 15 years, using
most of the time, before I was told by my boss, if I was anyone
else I'd be fired...
...and I dried out, (quit) and worked there another 3 years.
stayed quit 6 years...
...got a job doing the same exact thing in vegas that I did 18
years in atlanta, got strung out, and I got fired in 8 mos. |

Re: Amount of meth use question
Its only "functional" in the
most superficial and technical sense of the word though. In my
experience they`re still living a life filled with subtle and
not so subtle lies and deceptions, energy or complete lack of
it,contact in some form with shady criminal characters, feeling
terrible about themselves etc.I`d be inclined to call them "disfunctional
users". Arch |

Re: Amount of meth use question
dysfunctional user would be
me...i slip fast into dark insanity..cant control my compulsive
behavior, cant be a parent, cant do what I should do...it
becomes scrambled eggs in my head while I am on meth...
for her..she functions fine...that is the downfall of her
addiction, it is lying so well...she believes it.. |

Re: Amount of meth use question
Yes, that's how it usually
happens. But meth addiction is PROGRESSIVE. It can't stay at one
level. It always has to move to the next level, then the next,
then the next, until there is nothing left of you. Meth wants
all of you, and if you continue using, it will eventually get
all of you.
IMHO.
